Woman and child unscathed as car overturns on ice near Shropshire primary school

A car rolled over on an icy road near a primary school, but the woman and child in the car walked away unscathed.

The accident happened on a country road at Brockton, near Much Wenlock, not far from Brockton C of E Primary School, at about 8.40am.

A fire crew from Much Wenlock was initially called because of fears the driver and child might be trapped in the car, a Fiat 500, but both were found to be free and unharmed on arrival.

Claire Brown, speaking for West Mercia Ambulance Service said: "A woman and a child were in the overturned car but not injured."

She said an ambulance was called the check them at the scene, but they were not thought to need hospital treatment.

She said the road was very icy.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said the road was cleared by about 9.40am.
