Video and pictures: The aftermath of huge Telford blaze

Fire crews were still on site at the Tafs timber yard in Telford this morning - in the aftermath of the major blaze at the site.

A handful of firemen and engines were still on Gower Street, St Georges, winding up hoses - hours after the blaze had been put out.

At the height of the fire, more than 40 firefighters were on scene and a 200m cordon was put in place - with residents ordered to stay in their homes.

Fire investigation officers were also on scene, trying to find out the cause of the blaze - which saw flames tower over rooftops in St Georges.

Pete Hawkins, the level two commander from Shropshire Fire and Rescue at the incident last night, said: "The fire is now extinguished and crews are now on scene checking for hot spots and cooling acetyline cylinders.

"The cylinders have been cooled since about 3.59am, crews were informed they were there but they weren't able to reach them until that time.
"They have now been deemed safe."
