One side of the A442 on the approach to Telford between Sutton Maddock and Sutton Hill was closed following a three-vehicle crash just before 8am.

Anne Tugwell of West Mercia Police said there was a collision between a grey Renault Megane, a black VW Polo and a white van at the junction with the B4176 Bridgnorth Road at Sutton Maddock.

A woman occupant of the Renault was taken to hospital after suffering from chest pains.

Police directed traffic while the vehicles were recovered.

In a separate incident about the same time, police shut off a lane of Queensway at Randlay interchange in Telford while a broken-down van awaited recovery.

Traffic was queuing back as far as the Stirchley interchange.

Delays of up to half an hour were experienced.
