West Mercia Police is calling for information after the man woke up to find himself with facial injuries and the jewellery he was been wearing missing, behind the Co-operative store in the Lodge Lane area.

He and a drinking companion had been driven to the store by two women they had met earlier in the night.

The man was assaulted and robbed after he got out of the car, but it is not known by whom.

The robbery happened between 1.30am and 3.30am on Sunday, after the group left The Crown in High Street, Bridgnorth.

The victim of the robbery, a 22-year-old local man, had been drinking at the pub with another man, also in his 20s, and at closing time the pair were offered a lift to the Co-operative Food store from the two women they had met in the pub.

The group went to the store in what is believed to have been a white Fiat 500.

Emily Dixon, for West Mercia Police, said: "After getting out of the car the victim was assaulted at the back of the store building.

"He sustained facial injuries and temporarily lost consciousness. He woke to find the jewellery he was wearing had been taken. He later required hospital treatment for his injuries.

"Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information about the incident.

"They are also keen to speak to the two women who drove the men to the Lodge Lane area."

Anyone with information about the robbery or the events leading up to it can contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting reference 138S of February 21.
