Shropshire Council has announced a further planned closure on the main Hodnet to Weston/Wem road for two weeks.

The work, which started on Monday, is taking place between the junction of Hodnet Road and Paradise Lodge, just outside Hodnet.

This follows closures of the same stretch of road in August and October last year.

The closure is to allow Severn Trent Water to work on the water mains. The diversion route is through Prees Green and Weston.

Rebecca Murphy, press office for Severn Trent Water said: "At the end of last year we were renewing the old water pipes in School Lane Marchamley and along Hodnet Road to the junction of Shrewsbury Street.

"As part of this improvement work, we also planned to renew a small section of water pipe towards Weston, which started on Monday and is expected to last two weeks.

"The work will take place between the junction of Hodnet Road and Paradise Lodge, and in order to keep everyone safe, we'll need to close the road, but the pathways will remain open.

"We know that we may cause some inconvenience for the local community, and we'd like to apologise to anyone who will be affected, but this work is important and will help us to keep the water running for our customers for years to come."
