The county's second This Girl Can event saw hundreds of girls try their hand at a huge variety of sports.

The event, held at Idsall School in Shifnal saw just under 300 girls try a variety of sports including boxing, cricket, rugby, gymnastics, folk dancing and bollywood dancing, with thirteen sports clubs offering up their expertise.

Jenna Johnson, organiser through the East Shropshire Sports Partnership, said: "It was a brilliant day.

"Hopefully all the girls will leave energised about these sports and activities."

Youngsters from years four to six at local primary schools were invited to take part alongside year sevens from Idsall.

Jenna added: "Lots of work is being done to attract girls to a variety of different sports, especially around this transition age and hopefully that is what we have done today.

"Lots of youngsters might get to do netball or football at school but today they've had the chance to try some stuff they've never really seen before, like archery."

Clubs that took part included Bright Star Boxing, Idsall Trampolining Club, Shifnal Folk Dance, Idsall Gymnastics Club, Metafit, Shooting Stars Cheerleaders, Telford Netball Club, Shifnal Saxons Rugby, Shifnal Europeans Football Club, Telford Archers and Desi Nash Bollywood Dancing.

At the end of February, a similar event was held in Bridgnorth which saw 350 girls have a go at archery, netball, cricket, athletics and boxing.

Lyndsey organised This Girl Can with the help of Joe Lockley from Energize and Natalie Hollins from Oldbury Wells School.

Another event is set to be held in Bridgnorth later this year.
