Vicky Hopkins failed to notify the Department of Work and Pensions and Telford & Wrekin Council of a change in her circumstances.

She had been living in a common household with David Smith and received £23,400 in over payments of income support and housing and council tax benefits, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

The 23-year-old had made dishonest claims between June 2012 and December 2014, the court was told.

Hopkins of Briarswood, Brookside in Telford, had pleaded guilty to three offences of failing to notify the relevant authorities of changes to her circumstances at an earlier hearing.

Judge Jim Tindal made Hopkins subject to a 12-month community order.
