Jobs created as Shropshire bus firm lands new contracts
A Shropshire bus company has been awarded four new contracts creating 12 extra jobs.
GHA Coaches will be responsible for Shrewsbury town services 21, 23 and 26 and a service 511 which runs between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch. They are currently run by Arriva and the new contract will run until 2021.
The new services will enhance GHA's growing network in Shropshire and Cheshire and service 511 will link up to services 72, 73, 146 and 205 in Whitchurch offering passengers onward journeys to Wrexham, Chester, Crewe and Nantwich.
Stephen Bryce, GHA Coaches general manager, said the family owned business, which has a depot in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, said he is delighted to have been awarded the work by Shropshire Council. We purchased Shropshire Bus and Coach to not only consolidate our existing operations in the county, but to have a permanent base from which to expand our network in Shropshire," he said.
"We were disappointed not to have been successful in winning the contract to run Shrewsbury park and ride, but we have taken a positive step forward in tendering for the 511 service and the three Shrewsbury town centre services. It is our aim to provide local people with a friendly and reliable service when we take over the running from June 1."
Service 21 runs between the town to Reabrook, service 23 takes passengers between town to Heathgates and route 26 runs between Shrewsbury and Adswood Grove.
