The presenter, author and owner of Brompton Cookery School, near Shrewsbury, finished the marathon in three hours 58 minutes, running to raise money for the NSPCC.

Mr Bean said he hit his target of £2,000 for the charity, which was the official charity partner for this year's London Marathon.

He said: "What an amazing, day, I managed to complete the run with no training all in under four hours."

He said the money raised from the marathon would go towards funding ChildLine, as at the moment the charity only has the resources to answer three out of four calls.

Mr Bean was one of a host of celebrities running the marathon, including Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer, and Hollyoaks' Kai Owen and Nadine Mulkerrin.
