Teenage boy and man arrested over Telford stabbing

A teenage boy and a man have were today arrested in connection with a stabbing in Telford earlier this month.

A 16-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man, both from Telford, were arrested this morning on suspicion of violent disorder. Both remain in police custody.

The arrests come after a 32-year-old was stabbed in his chest on April 14 on Woollam Road in Arleston, Telford.

He was treated at the Princess Royal Hospital and has since been discharged. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police were called at 11.46pm to a report of a group of men fighting in the street.

The latest arrests come after two men were previously charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident.

Shaquil Sheamus Sultan, aged 19, of Manor Road, Telford, and Mohammed Kabir Zaman, aged 27, of Victoria Avenue, Telford, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on April 18, where their solicitors indicated that the men would plead not guilty to the charges.

They will appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on May 16.

Officers investigating the fight are now appealing for the driver of a white vehicle, who took an injured man to the Princess Royal Hospital to come forward, as they have vital information.

Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy, said: "We believe that there were more people involved in this incident and we are continuing to investigate.

"I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that can help us to catch those responsible to contact us.

"We're especially keen to speak to the driver of a white vehicle who took an injured man to the Princess Royal Hospital following the incident.

"We are aware that this incident has caused a great deal of concern in the local community and officers are continuing to work with local people and carry out high visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance."
