Shrewsbury Hotel death inquest adjourned by coroner

The inquest into the death of a woman who was found dead in a Shropshire hotel has been opened and adjourned.

Louise Smyth lived in Shifnal and had travelled to Shrewsbury with a friend on March 2.

The pair stayed at the Shrewsbury Hotel on Bridge Street and in the early hours of the following morning, the 34-year-old was found by her friend lying on the floor.

Mr John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin heard that an ambulance was called but it was clear to paramedics that she had died.

He said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that a post mortem which was carried out found that she had died of opiate and alcohol toxicity.

The inquest was adjourned to July 26 at will be heard at Shrewsbury's Shirehall.
