Three people received treatment from paramedics following the crash between two cars and a minibus at about 7am today on Ellesmere Road in Shrewsbury.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service say the minibus was not carrying any passengers.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 7.04am to reports of a road traffic collision about half a mile from Greenfields Primary School.

"There were three patients in total. A man aged approximately 30 was walking wounded, and there was a young child and woman in one of the cars whose injuries are not life-threatening.

"We have taken the woman to Princess Royal Hospital as a precaution."

Meanwhile shortly after 7am a trailer overturned on the A5 eastbound closing the road while recovery took place.

It caused queuing traffic eastbound between the Churncote Roundabout and Woodcote Roundabout.

There were no reported injuries.
