Harry Hall, 19, died in his sleep at his home in Warwick Way, Leegomery.

The midfielder played for the town's Allscott AFC and for Shrewsbury Sunday league side Beacon and as a junior had links with Shrewsbury Town, AFC Telford and Wrockwardine Wood.

His parents Cath and Mal, said the popular Shrewsbury College student had just finished top of the class on his plumbing course and was due to be presented with an award next week. He died on Sunday.

Mr Hall said: "We are really devastated. Harry died in his sleep, but we don't know why. We are waiting for the autopsy report.

"He had juvenile absence epilepsy from a young age, but lived a normal life. Then in December last year he had his first fit and was being treated for it. It just came like a bolt from the blue and shocked everyone.

"He played all sorts of sports, but football and golf were his favourites. He really excelled at football and played for many teams. At one time he had an association with Shrewsbury Town."

Mrs Hall said: "His room is full of football trophies, we lost count of how many. He was very popular and was never unhappy or got cross about anything. He was really laid back and always smiling and pulling pranks. He was a bit of a joker.

"This has come as a big shock to us. We have a big close extended family and everyone is reeling. He was a beautiful son and brother and we miss him terribly. We want to thank Allscott AFC and all the people who have posted those thoughtful tributes on social media networks to Harry."

Mrs Hall said Harry's brother Alex, 24, who used to play for Ellesmere Rangers, is in Morocco and is cutting his holiday short.

Allscott AFC manager Chris Scott led tributes from the club, saying: "All of the team are in shock today."

He said Harry was the "perfect example to other players".

Club manager Chris Scott said a string of activities were in the pipeline to remember the player including the launch of the Harry Hall Cup tournament.

Paying tribute on Facebook, Mr Scott said: "I'm devastated that you have left us Harry Hall. You are one in a million mate.

"It was only last night that we were all sat at the Allscott AFC presentation night and having a laugh.

"I didn't get to tell you last night but you were so close to winning Manager's Player of the Year because of the way you battled back into the side after not playing much at the start of the season.

"You never had a moan about it, just put your head down and worked even harder to get into the team.

"Was at training every week and you then took your chance and you became a regular in the starting 11 - you are an example to other players out there who give in when the chips are down and the going gets tough. Not the Harry way!!! Respect to you mate. I personally will never forget you and nor will the Allscott lads...

"Rest in peace mate."
