Fire crews from the town's station and specialist animal rescue crews from Wellington were called to Berriew after the animal got stuck.

Using harnesses, small tools and ladders the Shropshire crews worked with teams from Mid and West Wales Fire Service in order to get the animal free.

They shared pictures of the rescue on Twitter, where it appeared the animal had fallen into a small hole inside a building.

The crews were called at 7.45pm yesterday and the animal was freed by 9.43pm, when it was taken back into the fields by its owners.
