It also means prom season is in full swing, and with it the gowns, the suits and the various forms of transport – from flash sports cars to giant tractors.

The tradition at the Endowed School is to arrive to the prom in something special and this year was no exception.

From monster trucks to massive tractors, from Aston Martins and Lamborghinis, to Bentleys and classic Jaguars the students made their entrance, the boys in their suits and waistcoats, the girls in their ball gowns and dresses.

A dramatic way to arrive at the prom

Headteacher Phil Loveday said: "It was a very happy occasion. There was plenty of dancing and students singing at full voice and enjoying their evening.

"Food such as mini-burgers, fish, chips and other snacks were demolished.

"A thoroughly good night was had by all.

"It was great to see students really enjoying themselves and letting their hair down after working so hard to achieve their potential in their GCSE exams."

The event was held with the help of teachers, many of whom gave up their evening to join the students for the celebration.

Mr Loveday said: "I would like to say a big thank you to staff who attended and helped make the night such a success, and to the hotel for providing such a great venue and for their welcome."
