The results of a post mortem examination have yet to come back to determine how Matthew Lawer, of Bridgnorth, came to suffer a suspected cardiac arrest in the early hours of December 11.

At the opening of the inquest at Shirehall yesterday, John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire, heard that Matthew had been found not breathing at his home by his parents at about 12.30pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service staff were unable resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at about 12.50am.

The inquest was adjourned until March 16, for a full hearing.

Matthew was a pupil at Oldbury Wells School in Bridgnorth.

Sarah Godden, headteacher, said: "Matthew was a wonderful young man and a much loved member of our school.

"He will be remembered very fondly as a good friend, a great sportsman and very able student and he will be much missed by everyone who knew him. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Matthew's family and we ask that people continue to respect their privacy at this difficult time."
