Police appeal as two teenage girls 'forced into Mercedes' on Shropshire street
Two teenage girls were reportedly forced into a car on a Shropshire street in the early hours of this morning, prompting police to appeal for information.
Officers say a member of the public saw two females, aged around 17-years-old, wearing black tops and black mini skirts being pulled forcibly into a white Mercedes on Glebe Street, Wellington.
They said the vehicle headed in the direction of Dawley Road at around 12.25am this morning.
Police said they have received no reports of anyone missing at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Ally Wright, from West Mercia Police, said: "While we're still not sure if an offence has taken place, I am extremely concerned by the nature of this call.
"There may be a fairly innocent explanation but we need to check on the safety of these two females and speak to anyone with information as a matter of urgency.
"It is important to stress that at this point we've not received a report of anyone missing. However, from the information we received I am keen to clarify exactly what has occurred.
"If you are one of the females involved in this incident or know the females involved in the incident, please contact us.
"If you were the driver of the white Mercedes in Glebe Street around 12.25am or indeed a passenger, please get in touch.
"As I said, there may be an innocent explanation and if there is we can stand down our investigation.
"We'd also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any other information that may help with our enquires.
"Were you in the area around Glebe Street and Dawley Road in Wellington last night at around 12.25am? Did you see a white Mercedes? Did you see two females aged around 17-years-old wearing black tops and black miniskirts? If so, we need to speak to you urgently."
