Woman dies after being found on Ellesmere canal towpath
A woman has died after being found on a towpath next to the canal in Ellesmere.
She was found unconscious on the A495 shortly after 5pm on Wednesday, but later died at the scene.
Exact details into her death have not been revealed but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
The walkway under a bridge next to the canal was sealed with tape last night, with multiple police cars seen in the area.
Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a patient unconscious just after 5pm on a towpath on the A495 by the Newton junction.
"One ambulance attended and found a woman in cardiac arrest. Sadly, nothing could be done to save her and she died at the scene."
