Welshpool Town Council has been named a finals in the UK National Go Procurement Awards 2018 but both the Day Centre and Street Scene departments.

The awards are presented in Manchester on April 24 with the small council up against county councils and Welsh and National government.

Mayor Councillor Stephen Kaye, said: "I am pleased we have been recognised again this year. As a town council we find ourselves shortlisted among County Councils, Health Boards, Welsh Government, National Government and others. It is not bad for a little Town Council.’

Town Clerk, Mr Robert Robinson, said: "It is a credit to the staff and councillors. These awards do not mean we are necessarily better than anyone else but that we may be doing something right."

The Ann Holloway Centre provides day care for those who need support during the daytime and is open on weekdays.

It has about 24 clients most days with a reduced number on Fridays, which is a special day for those with dementia.

There is a range of activities on offer with lunch cooked in the kitchens. The Council also operates a Meals on Wheels service from the centre.
