Man's body found in lake at Christian centre near Oswestry
The body of a man was today found in a lake the grounds of a Christian centre near Oswestry after a search involving the police helicopter.
Police were called this morning to reports that a man had gone missing.
The search was concentrated in the grounds of the Quinta Hall Christian Conference Centre at Weston Rhyn.
The centre has extensive grounds, covering 50 acres and includes a large lake.
The body of the man, whose age has not been released, was found at lunchtime.
Eleanor Harris, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said: "Police were carrying out a search of the area in connection with a missing man. The body of a man has subsequently been found in a nearby lake. Police are currently in attendance."
Police investigators remained on scene in to the afternoon and the area surrounding the lake was cordoned off.
The Quinta is part of Centre Ministries - a Christian charity which has properties in Shropshire and Northern Ireland. The site at Weston Rhyn offers outdoor sports and activities including mountain biking, orienteering, swimming, canoeing and raft building.
No one was available for comment at the centre.
