Sarah-Charlotte Peace has started a petition calling for the cut in speed limit. Now she wants to get as many signatures as possible by March to try to achieve her goal.

Mrs Peace, from Oswestry, suffered serious injuries when a car ran over both her legs in an accident in the town centre.

She says that road speeds in the town is an issue that is very important to her.

As a result of the accident she had to spend 13 nights in hospital and is still on crutches today.

She now wants people to support her to promote the 20's Plenty for Us campaign to stop motorists travelling too fast on town centre roads.

The campaign is run by a national organisation which wants road speeds to be limited to 20mph in areas all across the country.

Mrs Peace's paper petition has been placed in Oswestry shops Honeysuckle, Radio Cafe and Stuart Barkley cycles.

There is also one in Stan's Cycles in Shrewsbury.

She said she has not counted up the total number of names that had been added to the document but each page held 20 signatures and she has been told pages have been filled.

"A lot of people want it for the town," she said.

"I know a lot of places where the petitions are have already filled pages. It is mounting up."

She said she has spoken to a number of councillors on the issue.

"It is an issue close to me because Oswestry was where my accident happened. It is also where my friends and family live.

"Oswestry is my primary focus before anywhere else.

"I am quite determined," she added.

Mrs Pearce urged everyone with comments in support in the idea of making the town a 20 mph zone to e-mail her.

She is also keen to hear from anyone else in the county who would like to start a 20's Plenty for Us campaign in their town too.

Mrs Peace also asked people to contact their councillors to get on board and hoped with the coming elections they would be willing to listen to residents.
