Her promise was recognised this week when she was presented with the Shropshire Athletic Association's Presidents Cup at the body's annual general meeting. The teenager has made good progress this year and competed in the All-England Championships in Gateshead in July when she bagged a bronze with a personal best of 11.15m in the shot.

Association secretary Graham Merrington said: "Emily is a good prospect and her performance in the Championships made her a well-deserved winner of the Presidents' Trophy."

Bridgnorth AC's Rhys Bevan won the Clements Cup for his 51.69m throw in the men's under-17s javelin.
