The English Premier League leaders recovered from a 6-0 loss in Hull – their heaviest defeat of the season – to maintain their three-point cushion at the top of the standings.

But it was another slow start from Telford, who shipped two early strikes against the Pirates the night before, in Surrey as they fell behind to a Flames goal with just five minutes on the clock.

Defenceman Dan Scott put his side back on level terms before the break, however, with a strike on 19 minutes.

The second session saw Telford take the lead though another defenceman – this time Sam Oakford – on 25 minutes.

A fight involving forward Phil Hill gave the county men a powerplay advantage just moments later, but they were unable to take advantage.

Corey McEwen added a third goal for the visitors on 52 minutes, before Danny Rose sealed victory with an empty net goal on the stroke of full time.

The Tigers return to action with a tough-looking clash against second-placed Milton Keynes Lightning.
