The Crown Meadow outfit picked up their third straight league win on Saturday, beating Wellington Amateurs 3-0 at home, writes Joe Edwards.

Defender Joe Mitchell netted twice, either side of a penalty from Jason Pike – who makes up the management team alongside Broome.

Bridgnorth are now 11th in the table – behind Black Country Rangers on goal difference – with seven games left.

Broome said: "Me and Jason said before the game, there was the added pressure as we were expected to get the win.

"We were 2-0 up at half-time but, in truth, we should have been 4-0 up as we missed one from a yard out, and then put one wide after rounding their keeper.

"We kept at it though, and got the reward in the second half with the third goal. Although we could have been more clinical and the lads are a bit disappointed as there are other gears we could have worked through, it's another win.

"You can only play what's out there in front of you and progress is being made."

Bridgnorth struggled during the early stages of the campaign but since the appointment of Broome and Pike, performances and results have steadily improved.

"The main objective was to bring stability – and we are very pleased with how the players have responded since we have come in," added Broome.

"They have worked very hard, there has been hard work all over, and hopefully we can carry on as we have been as we have a few tough games coming up."

The result leaves the Amateurs five points off safety.

Elsewhere, Haughmond took another step towards the title as they came out 3-1 winners at rock-bottom Gornal Athletic.

Steve Hole netted twice, with Luke Thomas scoring late on for the side who are 14 points clear.

Nathan Jackson, Seth Ellis and Ryan Bright were on target as Shifnal Town claimed a 3-0 win against Stone Old Alleynians.

Sixth-placed Ellesmere Rangers drew 0-0 with Dudley Sports.

In Division Two, AFC Broseley won 2-1 at Emerald Athletic.
