AFC Telford boss Liam Watson continues to wield the axe
AFC Telford boss Liam Watson continued his post-season overhaul of the Bucks squad at the weekend, with five more players set to be released.
The club confirmed they will not be offering new contracts to Bucks captain Ryan Valentine, last season's top scorer Steve Jones, midfielder Steven Leslie, defender Michael Briscoe and striker Marco Adaggio.
The news came just days after it emerged striker Alex Meechan was on the verge of a move to Barrow AFC to take up a role as player/assistant manager at Holker Street.
Five other players – Jay Smith, Jordan Rose, Jake Reid, Luke Hubbins and Ian Craney – were shown the door at the start of the month.
And the club has stated that more departures are to follow.
Leslie and Briscoe will leave after just one season. Both were brought in last summer by former manager Andy Sinton.
Leslie, who has previously played for Wrexham, Hereford and Shrewsbury Town, scored four goals last season but struggled to maintain form.
Briscoe suffered a broken nose in pre-season training and later underwent back surgery before suffering an ankle injury towards the end of the campaign.
Jones departs after a season-and-a-half, having netted 11 goals in the last campaign.
Valentine ends a two-year stint at the club.
He played 70 games, netting his only goal for the club in the 2-2 home draw with Stockport County in September.
Addagio was brought in in March by ex-caretaker boss Graham Hyde and showed impressive versatility by filling in at right-back to help provide cover for injuries.
