Alex Meechan confirmed as Barrow's new No 2
Former AFC Telford United assistant manager Alex Meechan has been confirmed as No 2 at Blue Square North rivals Barrow.
The frontman has joined the Bluebirds in a similar player/coach role to the one he held under Bucks caretaker boss John Psaras in the closing weeks of last season.
Meechan wasn't in the plans of new Telford boss Liam Watson, who has drafted in his assistant at Southport, Dominic Morley.
Psaras, in contrast, may be offered a role with the Bucks' youth set-up after his long service under Andy Sinton and the caretaker regimes of Mark Cooper and Graham Hyde.
Ex-Bristol City striker Meechan made seven appearances for Telford after arriving from Colwyn Bay in March.
His versatility has also attracted Barrow boss Dave Bayliss, who intends to use Meechan in a dual role at Holker Street following demotion.
Bayliss explained: "Alex is going to come in and first of all he's going to be a player, but he will also help me out on the coaching side as well.
"He's very good at this level of football. He's also got a very good knowledge of this level of football."
