Liam Watson wants a roar from AFC Telford

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson has urged supporters to roar his team to a historic victory at home to Basingstoke Town.

And his team will be targeting a fast start in this evening's FA Cup first round replay to help transform the New Bucks Head into a cauldron of noise.

The Bucks have never made the FA Cup second round in their current incarnation, formed in 2004, but victory tonight will alter that statistic.

Watson said: "I just think being back home with the crowd behind us help us.

"But we have got to give the crowd something to get behind and hopefully we can do that by playing well, getting an early goal or something like that, and then go from there."

Watson's players will be aware of the importance of the game, which will see the winners bank £18,000 in prize money and book a trip to League One leaders Bristol City.

He said: "I just want to get through and the players know exactly what is at stake. If they turn up tonight like they did at Barnet on Saturday, then I am sure we'll be in the next round.

"The first game was tough, because of the rain-soaked conditions, but we got the early goal and, at the end, I was disappointed with a draw.

"They had a bit of possession late on but I can't honestly say they really hurt us.

"It is a one-off game and it will be a tough one, but we have just got to look after ourselves."

A repeat of the 1-1 draw the sides played out at Camrose could see the tie go to extra-time and penalties.

The Bucks will be undaunted should the game be decided from 12 yards.

Watson said: "If I look through the squad, have I got penalty takers? Yes.

"Andy Parry has taken penalties for me in the past, Tony Gray and Sean Cooke and Adam Farrell, so we have got a fair amount there."
