AFC Telford put Neill Byrne on transfer list

AFC Telford United defender Neill Byrne has today been placed on the transfer list.

The decision was made at a meeting held between manager Steve Kittrick, managing director Lee Carter, the player and his representative.

A club statement indicates Byrne has expressed a desire to play full-time football and chairman Ian Dosser said: "We've listened to what Neill has had to say.

"We will be sorry to lose him, but have come to the conclusion to accept his request for a transfer, providing we can come to an agreeable position with any interested club."

Byrne was one of just two players contracted to the club for next season, along with striker Adam Farrell.

His request will come as a blow, as manager Steve Kittrick had been considering him for the captaincy role next season.

Byrne joined Telford in June 2013 as a free agent and helped them win the Conference North in his debut season.
