Bucks' Izak Reid set to miss months

Luckless AFC Telford United have been dealt a major blow with the news that Izak Reid faces a three-month absence.

The versatile winger has a suspected fractured ankle and possible ruptured ligaments but is awaiting a scan to determine the exact damage.

Reid was injured when landing awkwardly trying to block a clearance in Saturday's FA Cup exit at Kettering. Manager Rob Smith said: "Izak's injury looks very bad. The initial fears from hospital are ruptured ligaments. It's looking like a long-term injury – three months plus."

Reid went to hospital yesterday and is on crutches after having a protective boot fitted which he will have to wear for the next four weeks – unless he needs surgery.

"I've been to hospital and I've been told there's a slight fracture as well as damaged ligaments," said the 28-year-old. "But I've also been told by a doctor that there's no fracture yet two or three ligaments have been ruptured, and to wear the boot and come back in a month's time.

"But I'm waiting on a telephone call to sort out a scan to see if I need an operation. Either way it's not good."

Reid has arguably been Telford's best player this season but he is the latest casualty with Dave Hibbert (knee), Jack Rea (hand), Mike Grogan (knee) and now Connor McCarthy (back) out. But McCarthy has a chance of being fit for Saturday's trip to AFC Fylde and will be assessed at training tonight.
