Rob Smith delighted with vital three points for Telford
AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith was delighted with his side's 1-0 win against FC United of Manchester at New Bucks Head after what he described as an 'emotional' week.
Connor McCarthy's strike inside the 66th minute sealed the all-important three points for the Bucks in front of a 1,706-strong crowd.
The result moves them up to 14th in the National League North table ahead of the trip to Altrincham next weekend.
In terms of off-field matters, the club needs to raise £25,000 by the end of the month, and the same figure by the end of next month.
Buckets were dotted around the ground for fans to hand in cash donations, with around £2,500 raised.
On the week and capping it off with a win, Smith said: "It has been very emotional, what I have seen on social media and what has happened around the club has got to us all really."
"I said to the players before the game, this club rallies when it needs to. The reaction has been quite outstanding.
"I said to them 'you have got the shirt, and you have to prove you can give as much to this club as the supporters' and I think they did."
