Telford Tigers' Grace Garbett is included in GB Under-18s squad
Telford Tigers teenager Grace Garbett has been named in the Great Britain Under-18 Women’s World Championship ice hockey squad.
The six-team IIHF tournament runs from January 6 to 12 at Dumfries Ice Bowl and GB will host China, France, Poland, Netherlands and Norway.
Garbett, 15, plays for Tigers’ under-18 side.
GB’s first game is on Sunday, January 6 against Poland, before facing France the following day. After a rest day, GB then go head-to-head with Norway on Wednesday, January 9.
A second rest day is followed by GB facing China on Friday, January 11 and the tournament ends with Great Britain against Netherlands 24 hours later.
Head coach Cheryl Smith said: “This was one of the toughest under-18 squads the coaching staff have ever had to name.
“There is so much competition for places but that is a great position to be in for the women’s programme.
“It will be a tough tournament for sure as there are some top nations competing and many of the roster are still very young.
“But we have had good preparation and I know the squad is really looking forward to playing on home ice.”
