Dependable full-back Mat Sadler has spoke of his delight at committing to Shrewsbury Town's promotion push for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old was today completing the paperwork after Town agreed a deal with Championship outfit Watford to extend an initial six-month loan into a season-long agreement.

Sadler, who has Premier League experience with Birmingham on his CV, has been an ever-present with Shrewsbury this term. And he is delighted not to have to cut short his stay at the Greenhous Meadow.

"It's all sorted, I'm here for the rest of the season and I'm really happy with that," said left-back Sadler.

"It has been a bit of a strange period because we had quite a few games called off and before you know it, the end of the loan has arrived.

"But everything has been sorted now and I'm just looking ahead to the Morecambe game on Saturday."

Sadler's extension is the opening piece of business completed by Town boss Graham Turner during the January transfer window.

Negotiations are continuing with Bristol Rovers in an attempt to turn leading scorer Mark Wright's six-month loan - which has now expired - into a permanent deal.

Hopes remain that an agreement can be struck while Turner is also very hopeful of bringing a mystery target in before the weekend.

He must also decide whether to seek to lengthen the loans of Andrew Tutte from Manchester City and Tope Obadeyi from Bolton.
