The most successful period in Shrewsbury Town's history saw player-manager Graham Turner lead Sthe club into what is now the Championship and retain their place in English football's second tier in 1978-79.

That was coupled with memorable FA Cup giant-killings, including a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the fourth round on January 27 1979 thanks to goals from Paul Maguire and Sammy Chapman.
