Party barman Marvin Morgan still buzzing
Shrewsbury Town striker Marvin Morgan celebrated promotion by becoming a temporary barman at the Greenhous Meadow.
Shrewsbury Town striker Marvin Morgan celebrated promotion by becoming a temporary barman at the Greenhous Meadow.
The frontman did drop one bottle of beer but true to the afternoon's form it didn't break and the 28-year-old continued to be the livewire at the promotion party.
But it is on the pitch where Morgan wants to be remembered, and he is fully aware of the feat achieved by guiding Town back into the third tier.
"We will all go down in history as the players that got promoted, and that's what we want to be remembered as," he said.
"When I first came here the manager was talking about promotion and this is a great achievement.
"Everyone connected with the club should enjoy it."
And Morgan admitted that having enjoyed a memorable League Cup run as well as reaching the third round of the FA Cup, not getting promoted would have been incomprehensible.
"We had to get promoted," he said. "It has been a great season, being unbeaten at home, playing Swansea at home and beating them, going to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and doing well and we should have beaten them.
"I am just buzzing. The fans have been quality and it has been a great season."
Morgan was able to savour the final 20 minutes of Saturday's promotion-clinching victory after coming off the bench in place of Terry Gornell.
"It was nice to get on," he said. "The last seven games I have been on the bench but I can't complain.
"The gaffer said to me he wanted to change it and obviously we went on a great run. I have come off the bench and scored and done well."
