Shrewsbury resigned to Jermaine Grandison exit
Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner today admitted it was highly unlikely that defender Jermaine Grandison has a future at the club.
Grandison's contract ran out last weekend while he remained sidelined after hip surgery.
And the 22 year-old has continued to stall on the offer of fresh terms at the Greenhous Meadow, with Turner accepting that there is unlikely to be a resolution.
Grandison insisted earlier this week that he would like to continue talks with the club, after rejecting the offer of a new 12-month deal.
Turner said: "I think we are miles apart in terms of the valuation of the contract. Suffice to say we can't reach an agreement and Jermaine is no longer a registered player with us.
"He's turned down our offer through his agent and it looks as though he's going to be out for some time anyway because of his surgery.
"The relationship with the club has ended and he is no longer a Shrewsbury Town player."
Turner added:?"I was quite surprised that he turned down our offer – he was a big favourite with the supporters."
Grandison will still use the club's medical and fitness facilities in his rehabilitation from his second hip operation of the summer.
The former Coventry trainee was dogged by the problem after the turn of the year and spent several months resting in a bid to avoid surgery.
But he broke down in his comeback match against Bournemouth in April.
Meanwhile, Town goalkeeping coach Gavin Ward has left the Greenhous Meadow to take up a similar role at Nottingham Forest.
