Graham Turner urges Shrewsbury Town to find their 'cutting edge'

Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner has called on his side to show more belief in attack following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Peterborough.

The Town manager was delighted with his team's work-rate against Darren Ferguson's promotion contenders, who recorded their sixth straight league win.

But he was disappointed that his players did not work Posh goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik more despite plenty of possession and some decent chances.

He said: "You have got to take encouragement from the fact that we have worked very hard.

"We can be better in terms of our possession of the ball. We didn't pass the ball anywhere near as well as we can and we have got to be a little bit more mentally stronger in and around their penalty area when we are looking to get shots off.

"Some of our shots were tentative. We should have had a little bit more belief about us.

"The one by Jon Taylor near the end was a cracking shot. The keeper has made a good save from it but, for the rest, there's too many gone wide from good positions or the final ball in the box wasn't what we would have expected.

"But we put in a real good shift, we worked tremendously hard and I do think we deserved better than the 1-0 defeat."

Despite the disappointment of the result, Turner believes his team should be encouraged by their display.

And he will urge his players to reflect on the positives ahead of tomorrow's home clash with Colchester United.

He said: "Colchester will be a difficult game but we have got to have a little bit of belief. The players have got to take that into the match and see whether we can't get three points."
