Northampton boss Wilder tracking Shrewsbury's Hall
Northampton boss Chris Wilder has confirmed he remains in the market to sign Shrewsbury Town midfielder Asa Hall.
Wilder snapped up the Birmingham-born player on six-month loan deal at the start of this season when he was manager of League Two promotion contenders Oxford United.
He had been keen to extend that loan past its expiration at the start of January, but an agreement with Town, who wanted a better financial deal, could not be reached leading Hall to return to the Greenhous Meadow earlier this month.
It is not clear whether Wilder would favour a loan or a permanent deal for the versatile Hall, who played under Wilder at Oxford between May 2010-12.
Ahead of tonight's transfer deadline, the boss said: "One of the things we've looked at, and we've had to look at quite a few things, is what we've got in terms of utility players.
"Ian Morris can play centre-mid, left-mid and can probably go to left-back and Ben Tozer can play in the middle of the park or centre-half and after that, there's not many players here that can do two or three positions. If we're going to run with a bit more a tighter squad to foster that team spirit then there is scope for a couple of lads who can play several positions.
"Asa certainly does that, he's a lad that I like and who has got a lot of ability. We tried to keep him at Oxford but it didn't happen. He is one of a number of players that is on a list that we're looking at this moment."
Hall reiterated last weekend that he wishes to remain at Shrewsbury and fight for his place.
