Town pitched the 20-year-old in for an immediate League Two debut at Bootham Crescent, only revealing the detail just before the game.

The Scotland Under-21 defender becomes manager Micky Mellon's second loan signing of October after Blackpool forward Bobby Grant.

Grimmer said: "Looking at the fixtures, there at least two games a week for the next few weeks, so there's plenty game time which I'll hopefully be able to get.

"I spoke to Micky and he is under the impression that I will fit in nicely to the way he wants to play.

"I know a few of the players from previous clubs and I played against Shrewsbury last season when I was on loan at Port Vale.

"One of my friends, Fraser Fyvie, was on loan here last season so I had a few people I could talk to about the club.

"They all said good things and give it plenty of compliments so that really was a factor in making it an easy choice to come."
