Josh Ginnelly on trial at Norwich City

Recent Shrewsbury Town winger Josh Ginnelly is on trial at Premier League new boys Norwich City - as a host of clubs are eyeing him.

Ginnelly, who hasn't contacted Town since the squad returned to pre-season training after turning down two offers of a contract, played in the Canaries Under-21s' opening friendly against non-league Dereham last night.

The former Aston Villa academy scholar was joined by fellow trialists defender Afolabi Coker, recently released by Leeds and striker Dernell Wynter of Enfield Town.

And observers at the game, which ended in a 1-0 win for Norwich, say the 18-year-old especially caught the eye at Aldiss Park.

A host of clubs including Newcastle are thought to be keeping tabs on the teenager, who broke into Town's first team last season as a scholar.

Ginnelly's contract expired on June 30 but Shrewsbury are entitled to compensation for the youngster as they retain his registration and he is under 24.
