Town's Connor Goldson set for Brighton

Shrewsbury Town defender Connor Goldson is set to sign for Brighton after the clubs agreed a fee.

The 22-year-old is understood to be travelling down to the south coast for a medical.

Goldson missed last night's 2-1 home defeat to Chesterfield after citing a hamstring injury before a fee had been agreed.

The Wolverhampton-born centre-back was thought to be heading to the Seagulls' Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers, but Town haven't been contacted by the Hoops.

Instead he is heading to Brighton, who are ironically set to lose Lewis Dunk to either QPR - who have had a £1.75m bid rising to £2m rejected - or Fulham.

Goldson is out of contract at the end of the season and if he left when his deal expires next summer, Town would have to rely on a tribunal to set a fee.

Swindon had a £100,000 bid rejected for him last month after Leeds enquired earlier this summer.

Should the deal go through, Goldson could make his Brighton debut in Saturday's game at Blackburn, where he played for Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup eight days ago.

Goldson has made 120 appearances for Town since making his debut in a 5-1 win at Lincoln in February 2011.

He claimed in July 2014 he was going against the wishes of his agent by signing a new contract at Greenhous Meadow.
