Midfielder James Wesolowski is poised to join Shrewsbury Town for pre-season training amid confusion over his Greenhous Meadow future.

The Australian ball-winner was one of six contracted players at Town offered new deals when the club announced its retained list on Friday May 20.

Wesolowski is keen to stay at Shrewsbury and is happily settled in the area.

It is believed the offer was on reduced terms. The 28-year-old's current deal runs out in eight days' time.

Manager Micky Mellon has offered the former Leicester, Oldham and Peterborough man the chance to do pre-season with the club.

The players are due to report back for the start of pre-season training tomorrow. No one at the club was prepared to comment on the matter.

Wesolowski has been restricted to 35 appearances in his two years at the Greenhous Meadow since arriving from Oldham Athletic.

He was out injured from September to March after rupturing his cruciate ligament for the second time, after initially suffering the injury in January 2015.
