Wolves boss Stale Solbakken today laid down the law to his players in a crackdown over Twitter abuse.
The Norwegian used his first in-depth meeting with the squad at their pre-season training camp in Ireland to warn them of the perils of abusing team-mates and opposition on the social networking site in a chat outlining what he expects from the players.
Several Wolves players – Jamie O'Hara, Steven Fletcher, Richard Stearman, Matt Jarvis, George Elokobi, Dave Edwards, Danny Batth and David Davis among them – are regular tweeters.
Leigh Griffiths was left at home after tweeting the words "#cantbebothered" on the first day of pre-season training.
Solbakken followed predecessor Mick McCarthy, who invited a media law firm to Compton to warn players of the misuse of Twitter in the months after Greg Halford tweeted that transfer target Steve Sidwell was sitting in the Molineux directors' box at the Chelsea game in January 2011.
Sidwell had been about to sign for Wolves from Villa and had undergone part of his medical, only to receive a call from then Fulham boss Mark Hughes and sign for them instead.
Now players have been warned again and Stearman emerged from the briefing to tweet:
Stearman had earlier exchanged light-hearted insults with Fletcher and O'Hara, on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Wolves today played down their chances of an early conclusion to the signing of Vadim Demidov.
The Real Sociedad defender held talks with chief executive Jez Moxey and his agent after flying in to England yesterday, and the clubs agreed a fee of around £1m.
But since then, other interest has hardened in the Norway international, with German club Eintracht Frankfurt now understood to be back in the race for his signature, plus other teams as well.
"It's still ongoing at the moment," Moxey told the Shropshire Star.
"Hopefully we'll have something to say in the next 24 to 48 hours, but it's not as clear-cut as some people would like it to be.
"There's interest in him from other clubs and we're looking at other targets as well."
