Stale Solbakken admits to Dorus De Vries bust-up

Wolves boss Stale Solbakken this afternoon admitted to a bust-up with Dorus De Vries which cost the keeper his place in the squad for the Bolton game.

The Dutch shot-stopper was replaced by the untried Aaron McCarey on the bench as understudy to Carl Ikeme for Tuesday's 2-2 draw against the Trooters after a row with Solbakken following the 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield on Saturday.

It is understood De Vries left without staying to watch the midweek game after being told to cool down by the Norwegian. But he is expected to be in the 18 for tomorrow's visit of Charlton after the pair settled their differences.

"He had a slight argument with me so I told him it was best for him to count to 10 and come back in a good mood," said Solbakken.

"He's done that now and he's back in business.

"It wasn't at Huddersfield – between Huddersfield and here!"

De Vries has had a frustrating time ever since his free transfer move from Swansea in June 2011.

After being restricted to just four League appearances, the 31-year-old was prevented from joining his old Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool this summer after the clubs failed to agree a fee.

It is believed Wolves were seeking £1.5m-plus for him and Liverpool offered £500,000.

Solbakken has some sympathy for the Dutchman.

"I can understand him to a certain extent – he's had ups and downs since he came here," he said.

"There was the Liverpool saga and he's had other things on his mind as well such as having a baby.

"He's found it difficult to focus but he's come back with a smile on his face and trained well today and yesterday."

De Vries could be loaned out with Wayne Hennessey edging towards full fitness.

"We're in a situation where we're blessed with three good Championship goalkeepers," said Solbakken.

"Wayne is coming back to full fitness now and it's probably something we have to take a look at."
