Dave Edwards targets new Wolves deal
Dave Edwards today insisted he can take his latest chance and win a new contract at Wolves.
The Wales international, whose deal expires next summer, completed his first 90 minutes in eight months in the 1-1 draw at Oldham in the FA Cup.
Playing as the most advanced midfielder behind lone striker Jake Cassidy, Edwards had three chances in the first round tie without scoring.
But with more game time, the 27-year-old feels he can persuade head coach Kenny Jackett to extend his stay at Molineux.
"I enjoy it here so hopefully if I can get myself in the team I can impress the gaffer and earn another one," said the former Shrewsbury midfielder.
"But first it's about trying to play regularly again and show what I can do.
"I feel I can make an impact if given the chance.
"Hopefully I can do enough to show my future lies at Wolves but we'll wait and see."
Jackett also feels Edwards can convince him to offer him a new deal in the coming months.
"Saturday was his best performance so far and it gave me a lot of confidence in him going forwards," said the boss. "He's a very good professional."
