Wolves contract incentive for Dave Edwards
Dave Edwards was today re-assured he is on course to win a new Wolves deal if he maintains his current form.
The Wales international, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has started five of the last six games after a foot injury.
The former Shrewsbury man has begun to discover some of his best form playing in a deeper central midfield role alongside Kevin McDonald.
Wolves have recently awarded new deals to Matt Doherty and Aaron McCarey, while the club have stepped up talks with Danny Batth's agent, with the centre-back also out of contract next summer.
Now Jackett believes 27-year-old Edwards, who celebrates six years at Molineux next month, is not only at the peak of his powers, but can win an extension to his stay.
"I've been pleased with him in the short period he's been back and in terms of the contract, of course he can earn one," said Jackett.
"There's no doubt about that – that applies to anyone in the team. As a player, you're very much in the driving seat on that.
"I've been very pleased with what he's done He makes very good decisions, and covers the ground well."
