Sources in south London say an offer from the Eagles is way below Wolves' demands.

But Palace's offer is expected to be the opening shot of what could become a protracted chase.

Hennessey's future became public after head coach Kenny Jackett claimed the keeper didn't want to play in the 1-0 defeat at Gillingham on Friday.

Hennessey has 18 months left on a lucrative five-year deal he signed in June 2010.
