Italian car festival cancelled
Bridgnorth's Italian Auto Moto Festival which had been due to be held on September 6 has become a casualty of the continuing coronavirus crisis.
"It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel this year's event," said David Morris, of the Italian Auto Moto Club.
"We were waiting for the Covid-19 situation to improve, but it hasn't. The public's behaviour at places like Brighton and Bournemouth gives us no confidence in people's ability to practise sensible social distancing, and we have therefore decided not to put our entrants or key volunteers at high levels of risk.
"If the situation improves in the future, either through vaccination or a significant reduction in levels of contagion, we will aim to run the event again on Sunday September 5, 2021.
"This is especially disappointing as 'Stig' was scheduled to join us for the first time this year, and was intending to spend the whole day in Bridgnorth. We are however still talking to him about his possible appearance at next year's event."
In past years the event has attracted the crowds to seen dozens of Italian vehicles in the High Street, with other activities around the town.
