Cowan put Telford ahead after just six minutes before new recruit Torpey sublimely opened his Bucks account early in the second half.

And Cowan rose highest to send a looping header into the far corner with 13 minutes remaining to make it 3-0, the centre-back's third goal in five days after also finding the target against Nuneaton.

Those goals lightened an otherwise routine exercise against the Unibond First Division North outfit.

But whilst thrills were at a premium for the 456 in attendance, boss Rob Smith will be pleased by the impact made by his new signings.

Midfielder Tom Field showed some neat touches during his 45 minutes, striker Matt Nolan won everything in the air, Gareth Jelleyman was assured and Torpey worked exceptionally hard.

Cables' late arrival – causing a 15 minute delay to kick off – did them no favours as Telford took control early on.

Cowan tapped home from five yards from Torpey's freekick to put the home side ahead.

Andy Brown nearly made it 2-0 after 20 minutes but his smart lob dropped the wrong side of the post.

Torpey spurned a decent one-on-one chance on 32 minutes before Brown smashed wide after the interval. But Torpey made amends on 54 minutes with a beautiful curled effort into the top corner after taking one touch to settle himself.

The introduction of Jamie Vermiglio raised the tempo and he was at the heart of a move that concluded with Nolan heading woefully wide from five yards from substitute Danny Edwards' cross.

Cowan made the scoreline convincing seven minutes later with the finishing touch to another pinpoint Edwards delivery.
