Precision gear and motion control specialist Harmonic Drive UK has been in its offices at Wolseley Court on Staffordshire Technology Park since its inception a decade ago.

The company, which supplies bespoke transmission and actuation solutions, plans to spend the next decade developing further relationships in the medical, broadcast and oil and gas sectors.

Harmonic Drive UK is a daughter company of Harmonic Drive AG, supplying component sets, units, gearboxes, planetary gears and servo actuators to a variety of industries. The company also supplies strainwave gears and transmission equipment to the aerospace, automation and defence industries.

Harmonic Drive UK celebrated its anniversary by hosting a party for its staff and setting new targets for the next ten years. The company plans to develop its presence within specific industries to achieve high growth by its 20th year.

"The last 10 years have been incredible," said Graham Mackrell, managing director of Harmonic Drive UK. "Not only has our team in the UK hit new targets, but we've also seen some exciting advancements in the motion control industry as a whole.

"During the World Cup, Harmonic Drive gearing equipment was used to control spider-cams which made it possible to see the goals on our TV screens. In addition, we've seen our gears go on to film high profile BBC documentaries such as Frozen Planet, as well as Hollywood blockbusters and much more.

"The last 10 years have set a high benchmark for Harmonic Drive UK. On our 20th anniversary, we aim to be even bigger and even better," he added.
