More than 20 people have lost their jobs after a north Shropshire company went into administration. CS Contract Furniture, in Whitchurch, entered into administration, meaning that 21 jobs have been lost.

But Newport-based Classic Furniture Ltd has taken over the business assets of the firm, meaning 46 jobs have been saved.

The business will continue to operate from the same site, but under a different name and full details of the reorganisation are yet to be confirmed.

Richard Owen, senior manager of administrators Griffin and King Ltd in Walsall, said: "CS Contract Furniture went into administration on Friday.

"Classic Furniture, based in Newport, has bought the business assets, but do not own the whole company.

"The business will operate under a different name from the same site, but its operations will not be changed.

"The fact that these two have combined operations mean it is thought that it will become one of the largest furniture suppliers in the country.

"Unfortunately, the changes mean 21 jobs have been lost, but on a more positive note at least 46 have been saved."

CS Contract Furniture was a design-led manufacturer that supplied contract furniture to the hotel and leisure market .
